Obesity and Sickness Is Very Prevelant in Shift Workers

It is seen that the adolescents and youths who belong to the age group of 16 to 25 years are the ones opting for a shift work. Nearly half of them are males and one third among them are females.

But a new research says that the story of young blood does not end here. It is found that 30% of them were obese and 40% males and 45% females had one or the other health conditions like Backache, sleep disorders, chronic pulmonary obstructive disease and Diabetes.

What actually happens is that the ‘’Body’s Clock Mechanism’’ is disturbed which is why it leads to the above said disorders.

The effects of shift working needs to be mitigated. Also these shift workers get habituated to caffeine, smoking and alcoholism to keep them energetic throughout or fall asleep when required.
