Fruits
and vegetables are part of healthy meal. But how many people are having sufficient
quantity of fruits and vegetables in their diet? Answer may be few.
Seven
or Minimum Five portions of fruits and vegetables in a
day
Many
people are having two to three portions a day, but research shows we require at
least 5 portions or more than that to reduce risk mental illnesses, cancer or cardiovascular diseases.
Recent
clinical trial published in BMJ open found more fruits, vegetables consumption
linked with mental health as well. People should take at least 7 portions a day
which is good for brain and prevents depression.
Mental
well being is a state in which people feel happy and have good social relationships.
35.5%of people with good mental state ate five or more portions of fruits and
vegetables according to new research and only 6.8% who ate less than one
portion. 31% people with high mental well being had 3-4 portions and 28% people
ate 1 or 2 portions.
Dr
Saverio Stranges from UK University says, just like smoking, fruits vegan
consumption also relates with low or high mental state.
This
data suggests not only for physical health, fruits, and vegetables more intake
is required for good mental health.
