There is propagation
of knowledge in every sector today, so is Medicine. Brand endorsements,
personal experiences, friends and family have been the medium for a person to
self medicate himself.
How far is it safe to self medicate?
It is absolutely
unsafe. Especially prescription drugs like Antibiotics that require a medicaladvice. The present scenario is such that even antibiotics are taken without
consultation from a qualified Doctor the result of which is Antibiotic
Resistance.
If an Antibiotic has
worked for previous infection does not mean that it will be effective for all
other infections. Also depends on person to person. Antibiotic action depends
upon the type of Bacteria, System infected and natural immunity of an
individual
Medicine working for your friend may not help you
It is also seen that
antibiotics are instantly changed in a couple of days if it has not worked
before the completion of course. This has led to multiple antibiotic trials
finally landing up into Antibiotic Resistance.
Antibiotics are
considered as life savers and the biggest boon of medical technology. While
there is infection Antibiotics are going to play a major role. And if
antibiotics are used illogically without a medical advice time is not far when
no antibiotics will work.
‘’International Infection Prevention Week’’ is
observed so that people are well aware, what those factors are that can
increase the rate of infection.
