Different forms available are soft contact lenses, gas
permeable, daily disposables and silicon material.
The greatest
advantage is that it can be used even in smaller infants and comes with no side
effects. Yet there are its own limitations. There are people who use it
lifelong.
Long term uses have
also reported cases of Corneal Ulcer, Reduced Oxygen intake, Neovascularization
like problems.
Measures to avoid complications on the long run
- Never Shuffle lenses - Do not change lenses or exchange it with any of your friend Without prior Medical advice
- No saliva, No water - Lenses are washed only with sterile aqueous solutions provided and not with your saliva, plain tap water or saline.
- Avoid eye Makeup - cosmetics that can adulterate the lens
- Shun from Reuse - disposables cannot be used again
- Lens cases - to be changed every 3 months and cleaned regularly
- Watch on eye drops - Nonprescription drops are better to be avoided with lens applied
- Night care - better to take off lens when you sleep
- Protective cover - Wear goggles to prevent from injuries or direct UV light
