Painless way to check the sugar levels in diabetics….

Around millions of people are diagnosed with diabetes every year making India a diabetic capital. For checking the values of blood sugar a needle prick is required which is very painful and irritating. Prick on daily basis can expose the person to number of infections dragging them towards other illnesses.

Continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps are the recent best options for automating most of the complicated daily process of blood sugar management but still it’s painful as it pricks.

A new transdermal biosensor accesses the blood sugar levels through the skin without a needle prick.  The device is designed with a handheld electric-toothbrush that removes slight top-layer skin cells on the basis of blood chemistry within range of a patch-borne biosensor. The sensor collects one reading per minute and sends the data wirelessly to a remote monitor, triggering audible alarms when levels go out of the patient's optimal range and tracks the glucose levels.
